Beginner’s Drop-Spindle Kit

Learn the basics of hand-spinning with a practical kit designed to give you time and materials to experiment.

A beginner-friendly drop-spindle kit with everything you need to start exploring hand-spinning.

Each kit includes 135g of assorted fibre presented using three different preparation methods, a top-whorl drop spindle, two detailed instruction guides, 2.5g of weld seeds and a sticker pack.

Designed to support different learning styles, the kit gives you plenty of fibre to practise with while exploring how different preparations behave when spun.

Please note: the mix of fibre breeds may change between batches. Future kits will use a selection of suitable locally sourced fibres depending on the breeds and fleeces available to ADHCrafts when each batch is prepared. The fibre content of each batch will be clearly identified where known.

The accompanying guides have been developed by ADHCrafts with accessibility and different learning styles in mind. Instructions are broken into clear stages with practical explanations to help beginners understand not only what to do, but why each step matters.

Fibre and individuality

ADHCrafts works with natural fibres in small batches. Fibre breeds, natural colours and combinations may therefore vary between kits.

Where possible, information about the fibre and its provenance will be included with your kit.

Natural fibre is not completely uniform, and part of learning to spin is discovering how different fibres and preparations behave in your hands.

Who is this for?

This kit is designed for people who are new to drop-spindle spinning or who would like a supported way to return to the skill.

No previous spinning experience is needed.
