Social Games Evening – Orchard Centre Pilot

Join us for a relaxed social games evening at the Orchard Centre.

This pilot session offers a friendly, low-pressure way to meet people, enjoy tabletop games and spend time with others. No previous gaming experience is needed, and support will be available to help everyone understand the games and participate at their own pace.

The session will run alongside the Introduction to Drop-Spindle Spinning workshop in a separate room. Partners, friends or family members of people attending the spinning workshop are welcome to book, but you do not need to know someone attending the workshop. Places are also available to people referred by local social prescribers and community services.

Time: 6 pm–9 pm
Venue: The Orchard Centre, Launceston
Cost: £3.50 per participating person
Capacity: Up to 12 participants
Refreshments: Light refreshments are included

Who is the session for?

The evening may suit people who:

• would enjoy meeting others through a shared activity;
• feel isolated or would like more opportunities for social connection;
• prefer a welcoming, structured activity to an unplanned social gathering;
• would like to try tabletop games without needing previous experience;
• are interested in co-operative games where players work together;
• are accompanying someone attending the spinning workshop; or
• have been encouraged to attend by a social prescriber or community service.

You do not need a diagnosis, formal referral or previous gaming experience to attend. This is a social and recreational activity rather than a therapy or clinical support session.

What happens after the pilot?

We hope the pilot will help us identify a smaller group of around six people who would be interested in meeting again to play a continuing co-operative game.

Any future sessions will depend on participant interest, finding a suitable accessible venue and securing the resources needed to run them. Attending this pilot does not commit you to joining a future group.

Accessibility and support

The Orchard Centre provides:

• ground-level access;
• disabled access;
• accessible toilet facilities; and
• on-site parking.

We want the evening to be as welcoming and accessible as reasonably possible. If you need an adjustment, a quieter welcome, help understanding instructions, space for mobility equipment or anything else that would help you participate, please email ADHCrafts at adhcrafts@email.com before the session.

You only need to explain what support or adjustment would help. You do not need to provide detailed medical information.

Carers and support workers

A non-participating carer or support worker may attend free of charge. Their place must still be reserved so that we can manage room capacity, refreshments and everyone’s access needs safely.
